As the only emergency service in the county that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Emergency Room Expansion at St. Joseph’s Hospital provides an increase in patient treatment areas and staff support spaces while supporting improved operational efficiencies, and more than doubling the existing Emergency Room. Natural elements and a soothing water feature provide a calming area in the typically high-stress environment of an emergency room.
The expansion creates a new, dedicated public entrance, which contributes to improved facility security. Full-height windows offer a connection to the outdoors, while an earth-toned palette adds warmth, avoiding the sterile feeling of standard hospital environments. Patient and guest areas include 13-15 treatment rooms and a comfortable, child-friendly lobby/waiting area. Patient care functions are improved with the new, large central nursing/physician area with surrounding treatment rooms so staff can monitor and respond quickly to patients’ needs.
